Smooth as Silk Screen
Instructor: Jerel Webster
Mondays, 6-8 pm, June 30 - July 21, 2008 (4 classes)

Pittsburgh native and Pop Art icon Andy Warhol popularized silk screening with his famous artworks of celebrities like Marilyn Monroe. The beauty of the process lies in its affordability, versatility and ease of repetition. From clothing to CDs and DVDs to ceramic tiles, wood, glass and plastic—the possibilities become almost endless. Join us this summer in MCG’s design studio as we learn the basics of silk screening using photoemulsion. Start with a photograph or picture from a magazine or use an image of your design to produce single or multi-color prints. We will have paper and fabric available for you to use, or bring that t-shirt, pair of jeans or canvas bag you’ve been waiting to customize. No prior experience required!
Tuition: $60 + Materials Fee: $30 = $90 total*
Pittsburgh Public Schools teachers eligible for tuition waiver and Act 48 credits.

Class sizes are limited. Advance registration is required. Please include payment with your registration form. Fees are non-refundable following the first class meeting.
