Absurreal-a-go-go
Instructor: Michelle McGraw
Session 1: Tuesdays, February 12 - March 25 (7 classes)
Session 2 - Tuesdays, April 1 - May 13 (7 classes)

In Absurreal-a-go-go you'll learn how to draw realistically and abstractly. Start by journeying to different settings around Pittsburgh to perfect your realistic drawing skills during the first seven weeks. Then discover how to alter your drawings using various mediums and design elements. By the end of the course you'll use your observational sketches into abstract compositions. Join us for either one session but both are recommended. All skill levels welcome.

Graphic Novels

Instructors: Jerel Webster and Keith Hershberger
Wednesdays, February 13 - May 14 (13 classes*)
*no class on March 19, 2008

It's a comic lover's delight as the Digital and Design studios come together to help you create your own graphic novel! Start by drawing and inking your own characters, or create them with digital images. Then bring them to life by adding color, texture, story lines and other images with Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop. Finish the class by pulling everything together into a book layout, and silk-screening your favorite images onto a t-shirt to advertise the stars of your story!

Runway Revolution

Instructor: Casey Droege
Thursdays, February 14 - May 15 (13 classes)
*no class on March 20, 2008

Whether you aspire to work in the fashion industry or just want to learn how to make and repair your own trendsetting clothing and accessories, this is the class for you.   We'll start with simple techniques for creating fun fashion accessories, then we'll move into how to reconstruct your old clothes and finish with the most important skill: sewing! Produce apparel for the end-of-year fashion show or just create your own wearable art, but be ready to make tons of stuff. All are welcome--beginners and advanced alike.

Community Art Mural

Fridays, February 15 - May 16 (13 classes*)
*no class on March 21, 2008

Have you ever admired some artwork while walking down the street? Did you ever want to contribute to the beauty of your community by producing a piece of public art but don't know how? Then this class is for you!   Work creatively with your classmates to combine various ceramic and design techniques to create and install a work of public art. Besides making a mural your claim-to-Pittsburgh-fame, this course will include a Pittsburgh public art tour and a trip to our very own famous Carnegie Library.
