The National Portfolio Day Association (NPDA) was created solely for the organization and planning of National Portfolio Days. Since 1978, NPDA members have been hosting portfolio days and career-in-the-arts events throughout the United States and in Canada.
The Association consists of accredited art colleges and university art departments, which are members of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. It is the only organization of its kind, and its membership represents the highest standard of visual arts education.
The purpose of this trip is for Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild students to learn about programs offered at a wide range of colleges around the country and to get professional feedback regarding their prospects for furthering their education in the arts beyond high school. The experiences we have preparing for and attending National Portfolio Day are also transferable to a wide range of careers and educational programs outside of the arts. In our class, we have not only been producing works of art, we have also been working on writing, oral communication and organizational strategies.
Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild is currently making plans to attend at National Portfolio Day experience in the Washington DC or Baltimore area in early December. For more information and to learn how you can prepare, contact Fiona Wilson or Jennie Canning.
