  Design Arts

FIRST QUARTER

Portfolio Development
Instructor: Jennie Canning
2 quarters- 14 weeks: Tuesdays September 12– January 9

Preparing to apply to colleges or art schools? This is just the class for you. Develop your own personal portfolio including an artist statement, a resume, documented artwork, and everything else you need to know to apply to colleges or art school. You will also have the opportunity to participate in National Portfolio Day, in which you can share your portfolio with admissions representatives from many schools. Open to all students with preference given to seniors. Students taking this course are strongly recommended to take the drawing course as well.

Textiles Sampler
Instructor: Jennie Canning

7 weeks: Wednesdays September 13 - October 25
Want to give a whole lot of new things a try? This is the class for you! Experiment with an array of textile processes that could include dyeing, weaving, crocheting, knitting, felting, beading, or embroidering. Use these processes to create finished products such as bags, scarves, baskets, or other home products. Open to all students.

Printmaking
Instructor: Justin Mazzei

7 weeks: Thursdays September 14 - October 26
They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Make powerful images in this class, and replicate them using various printmaking techniques. Specifically, you’ll experiment with non-toxic methods. Open to all students.

Drawing: Make a Mark
Instructor: Casey Droege and Justin Mazzei

2 quarters 12 weeks: Fridays: September 15 - January 12
Self-portraits, landscapes, still lifes, and experiments on paper. Whether you are beefing up your portfolio or just want to try those notebook doodles on a larger scale, come draw with us. Open to all students.
