Reconstructed Runway

Have you ever wanted to walk the runway, be part of a design team, or just learn to sew? Through a series of projects and challenges, you will get to make garments that will be worn in the MCG fashion show later this spring. More advanced students will learn pattern-making and help with the coordination of the fashion show. Open to all students.
Knit-pick
Instructor: Casey Droege
9 week course: Tuesdays, March 7 – April 4
Not just for your grandma! Learn how to knit, crochet, make nets and create a simple pattern. Create bags, accessories, and material for clothing. Use yarn, wire, plastic bags, or anything you can get your hands on. Open to all students.
Make a Scene
Instructors: Martha Raisanen and Germaine Watkins
10 week course, Wednesdays: March 8 – May 24
If you could create your own world, what would it look like? Build a moment of your world in a diorama with miniature props and pieces, create a photographic background, light the scene and then capture your world in photographs. Gain black and white printing skills in the process and learn about up-coming visiting artist, Lori Nix. Open to all students.
Drawing and Seeing

10 week course, Thursdays, March 8 – May 25
Observational drawing provides a solid foundation for any art portfolio. Even if your first love is digital arts, ceramics, or photography, learning about line, tone, volume, and space will enhance your creative abilities. We will work with the still life, the live model and compositions from the imaginations.
Visiting Artist Workshop: Lori Nix

Lecture and reception with the artist: 6- 8 pm, Wednesday, March 29
Join emerging New York artist Lori Nix for a four-day experience that will change your thinking about photography and reality. Nix blends a fascination with film and fantasy to create 3-dimensional landscapes of imaginary landscapes which she then photographs in color. This short and intense experience will give you a chance to collaborate with students from photography and design arts studios to create unique works of photographic art that combine painting, modeling, and scene construction.
