Art for the Body and the Home: Textile Explorations

Get ready to look your best this spring with the clothes and accessories you make yourself. Want to make your room truly yours? How about a screen printed bed spread, pillowcases or curtains? In this course you will learn how to alter existing textile products and create patterns for your original designs. Sewing, printing, painting-art comes to life when you wear it on your back!
This course is open to all students.

On Your Mark: Drawing and Printmaking
Resident Artist- Saihou Njie
12-week course meets: Tuesdays, March 1- May 17
Whether you love to draw or feel intimidated about it, confident expression through marks on paper is basic to further study in art. In this course you will learn to loosen your approach to drawing while attaining technical skills like shading, perspective and rendering. By incorporating projects that range from the experimental to the technical, this course offers an excellent opportunity to build depth and breadth in your portfolio.

Beyond Basic Black- Textiles and Color
Resident Artist- Saihou Njie
12-week course meets: Thursdays, March 3- May 19
His native country of Gambia influences the colorful patterning and imagery in the work of resident artist Saihou Njie. In this course you will explore a range of textile decorating techniques using dyes, fabric paints and printing techniques. Do your design ambitions run high? Use your personally embellished fabrics to change the world you live in. Learn how to use our new sewing machines and transform yourself into a walking piece of art!
This course is open to all students.
