Dreamscapes: Visualization in Photoshop

Do you have vivid dreams? Ever kept a dream journal? Whether they represent expressions of fear, desire or happiness dreams are often at the heart of great art. Adobe Photoshop is the gold standard image-editing program for artists and the publishing and design industries. In this course you will learn to work with a vast array of palettes, tools and effects that make this software so powerful. Bring your dreams into a world where others can see and ponder their meanings. This course takes place in the HP digital imaging center and is open to all students.
Chance Encounters: Surreal Video Production

12-week course meets: Tuesdays March 1- May 17
Have you ever felt lost in a dream for what seemed like forever when you suddenly awake and notice that you dozed off for only twelve minutes? How does so much imagery and action get compressed in time? Video is the medium to investigate if you are a person who likes art with movement, light, sound and color. In this course you will learn to create a short video work inspired by one of your dreamlike worlds.
This course takes place in the Mac multi-media lab and requires some familiarity with video production
Synchronicity: Animating Characters
Lead instructor- Charles Kyobe
12-Week Course meets: Tuesdays, March 1- May 17
Develop your characters and ideas into fun animated clips. Using Macromedia Flash, you will construct high-quality, vector-based character animations for display on the web or other media. This course will also show you how to create dynamic backgrounds to create the illusion of movement. Animations will then be synchronized with sound.
This course takes place in the HP digital imaging center.
Prerequisite: A basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop is needed for this course.
Create a Web Experience

12-week course meets: Wednesdays March 2- May 18
Flying telephone poles, plants that eat, dogs that sing.? You decide. In this course, you will create an interactive web experience that has a surreal, dreamlike look. Take the viewer to a world that they have never visited. You will use both digital media and mixed media collage to create your surreal on-line experience.
This course takes place in the HP digital imaging center.
Prerequisite: This course is open to students with a basic understanding of Adobe Photoshop.
Surreal Selling: Cover and Poster Art with Photoshop

12-week course meets: Thursdays March 3- May 19
Do you want to create really cool CD covers for your homemade CDs? How about an impressive poster to advertise your band's next gig? Visiting artist Maggie Taylor has designed book jackets and CD covers using her signature, surreal style. In this course you will take a surreal approach to your commercial art. Working with Adobe Photoshop, scanners and digital cameras you will learn to create intriguing art that persuades and communicates with passionate appeal.
