Wilderness Photography
10 week course
Class meets: Mondays, September 12 - November 14
Learn to use a manual camera, process film, print and create organic slide compositions. You'll spend a Saturday night camping in a PA State Park taking photos and collecting organic material for printing. Go hiking, build a campfire, sing songs, cook your own meals, sleep in tents and have a great time. The remainder of the course will be spent making photographic images from our negatives and organic collections. This course is great for beginning or advanced photo students. The only prerequisites are sturdy hiking shoes and a love of the outdoors.

Pittsburgh Then and Now
10 week course
Class meets: Tuesdays, September 13 - November 15
Aperture. Depth of Field. Composition. Burn & Dodge. Learn the language of photography while exploring the past and present in Pittsburgh. This course will include several fieldtrips in and around the city to capture interesting angles, unusual buildings and all things Pittsburgh. Open to all students.

Move It: Motion Photography
10 week course
Class meets: Wednesdays, September 14 - November 16
Learn to fly! Capture a portrait of yourself frozen in mid air. Experiment with a variety of ways to render motion in a still image. Work with live performers, slinkys and pingpong balls. Chase your subject or dance with it. Learn to use a 35 mm SLR camera, process film and make prints in the darkroom. This course will include a fieldtrip to Dance Alloy to capture dancers in motion. Open to beginning and advanced students.

The Family Journal
10 week course
Class meets: Thursdays, September 15 - November 17
Photography joins the digital arts in this cross discipline course. Learn to use MCG’s digital cameras or 35mm SLR cameras to capture an intriguing portrait. Restore old or damaged family photographs using Photoshop. Bring past generations together into a composite family portrait. Take inspiration from several photographers who create family related art in interesting ways. This course will utilize both the photography and digital arts studios. No experience is necessary.
