Darkroom Potluck: Photomontage

10 week course, Mondays March 6 – May 22
Instead of a favorite dish, please bring your favorite negative to this darkroom potluck. The plates are made of photo paper. Help yourself to the variety of images served in multiple enlargers. In this advanced course students will combine and manipulate images by hand. Explore the darkroom secrets of MCG visiting artist Jerry Uelsmann. Collaborate with other students. This course includes a field trip to Artist Image Resource printmaking studio on the North Side. To enroll, students will need to have good negatives, and a solid understanding of black and white printing.
Strike a Pose #2
Instructor: Natalie Tranelli
9 week course, Tuesdays, March 7 – May 23
From the Guild to the runway to photo shoots. Strike a Pose (Part 1) allowed you to create fashions that reflected your unique sense of style. Now we are taking those fashions and pre-made clothing pieces in front of the camera for the Fashion Photography portion of the course. Compose fashion shots in the portrait studio and on site to create large color and black and white images. Receive help from stylists and make-up artists to further enhance your experience and photographs. Open to all students with priority given to students who took Strike a Pose: Part 1.
Ancient Processes

5 week course: Wednesdays: March 8 – April 5
Take a trip into history and learn two of the first photographic techniques: pinhole photography and cyanotypes. This short class is a good chance to try out the photography studio. Open to all students.
Out of Your Element

10 week course, Thursdays, March 9 – May 25
Get inside intriguing subject matter, like prisons and hospitals. Learn to print black and white photographs as you explore these new subjects on multiple exciting field trips. At the end of this class you will go home with a portfolio of work ready to show off. Open to all students.
