Recipe for Success: Behind the Scenes of Food Photography
Lead instructor- Dror Yaron with guest artist, Chef Anna Kelly
12-week course meets: Fridays March 4- May 20
Every year US advertisers spend $8 billion on food marketing. Art professionals including photographers, lighting and tableware designers, food stylists, colorists, and writers play major roles in this industry. This 12-week journey behind the scenes of food photography will show you how skills learned in MCG studios come together in real-world, commercial art. You will meet a client and visit an ad agency to learn about creating the perfect food shot. A professional food stylist will introduce you to tricks of the trade like how to use paints to make a parboiled chicken appear impossibly plump and golden-roasted or the secrets of ice cream that won't melt under photo lights. Producing a one-page sample for a professional quality cook book will require team work, attention to detail and style. When you present your splash board at the conclusion of this course, you'll know what it feels like to be an advertising dynamo. Only 6-8 spots will be available in this course. Students who contribute diverse backgrounds and talents to the team and have maintained consistent enrollment and attendance will have priority.
