Riding Through History 2001: Civil Rights Movement Revisited
A group of students from MCG will be reliving history this summer as they explore the major places, events, and people of the Civil Rights Movement. Little Rock, Memphis, Birmingham, Selma, Atlanta, and Washington D.C. are just a few stops on a two week journey, beginning July 5th, discovering how past events help to shape the future. Ben Fernandez, whose photographs documented Martin Luther King Jr. along the Freedom Trail and subsequently became the basis of the book MLK Jr.: Countdown to Eternity, will accompany the students at several sites lending his unique personal perspective. To further the experience, Coretta Scott King is expected to address the group in Atlanta. If you have an interest in Riding Through History please inquire at MCG or call 412.322.1773.
