Overview:

This educational experience will take twenty-one students from Manchester Craftmen’s Guild to relive history this summer as they explore the major places, events and people of the Civil Rights Movement. Little Rock, Memphis, Birmingham, Selma, Atlanta and Washington D.C. are a few stops on a sixteen-day journey of discovering how past events help shape the future. Ben Fernandez, whose photographs documented Martin Luther King Jr.: Countdown to Eternity, will accompany the students at several sites lending his unique personal perspective. To further the experience, MCG students will interact with and interview political and community activists of the Civil Rights Movement. King family members are expected to address the group in Atlanta.
