STUDIO SEMINARS (for high school only)
Encourage your students to explore the creative process while developing critical and analytical thinking skills. Experiences range from thematically based, hands-on skill building projects... to student-centered investigative discussions... to something in between. High School Visits are offered in the following three categories:

STUDIO EXPERIENCE
Expose your students to a new medium or process. Actualize concepts and learning topics covered in the academic classroom. Thematically based experiences are available in each MCG studio. Projects are available for all skill levels. Studio Experiences at MCG meet the following PA academic Standards for the Arts & Humanities; 9.1.J,9.1.E. We are happy to customize projects to complement your curriculum.

GALLERY EXPERIENCE
Throughout the year, exhibition spaces at Manchester Craftsmen's Guild host a number of nationally and internationally known artists. Staff-Guided tours of the current exhibition are structured to help students gain a historical, cultural and artistic context in which the artwork was created. After viewing an exhibition, students are engaged in a hands-on art-making project in one of MCG's studios. Gallery Experiences meet the following PA Academic Standards for the Arts & Humanities; 9.1.E, 9.1.J, 9.2.D, and 9.3.E.

TOUR & DEMONSTRATION
Want to expose your students to Manchester Craftsmen's Guild but don't have a lot of time to spare? Come for a tour! Students will be treated to demonstrations and discussions in each studio as they tour Manchester Craftsmen's Guild facility. tours of our sister organization, Bidwell Training Center (BTC), can also be scheduled. BTC tours may include a glimpse of the culinary arts program, chemistry labs and medical technology program. A staff-led or self-guided tour of the current MCG Arts Exhibition can also be arranged. Tours of MCG Jazz facilities and the Drew Mathieson Center for Horticultural and Agricultural Technology are subject to availability.

Studio Seminars are available on Wednesdays, between 9am and 1pm. Up to 40 students can be accommodated, with students then divided into smaller groups. MCG's High school Visit is offered free of charge to student groups within the Pittsburgh Public Schools. Transportation may also be provided. Groups from outside the Pittsburgh Public Schools district can access this opportunity for a nominal fee of $6.00 per student.
