Luggage and artwork are loaded onto the bus and students are called into a circle around a small garden adjacent to the Penland administration building. We take one another's hands and engage in a silent meditation on the week, trying to remember a moment or a quality that we will commit to maintaining and developing in our lives back in the city.

The bus ride home involves a continual flow of journals passed from seat to seat.Students and staff use this time to record their appreciations of one another's contributions to the experience of the week.
