SPRING TERM CLASSES
Holy Holga

Tuesdays, 6 - 9 p.m., April 27–June 15, 2010 (8 classes)
Teaching Artist: Missy Jarzenske

Try your hand at creating photographic art using the legendary toy-like, plastic Holga Camera. This affordable yet powerful tool can help you unleash your imagination and create imagery that feels both vintage and experimental! Revel in the world of black and white by creating unique double exposures, panoramas, vignettes, portraits and more. Then continue the experience by printing them in our darkroom or scanning them onto our Mac laptops. Most importantly, you’ll work with a format in danger of becoming extinct! The simplicity of this camera combined with the creative possibilities of the format make this course an engaging experience for both beginners and those experienced in the darkroom. The cost of the class includes a Holga camera and five rolls 120 film for each student.
Tuition: $120 + Materials Fee: $100 = $220 total*

Liquid Light
Wednesdays, 6 - 9 p.m., April 28–May 19, 2010 (4 classes)
Teaching Artist: Germaine Watkins

Experiment in MCG’s darkroom in innovative and creative ways. Liquid Light® is a photographic emulsion that enables artists to develop prints on wood, glass, ceramics, plastics, fabrics, metal, stone and other materials. Under safelight conditions we will learn to apply the solution—which contains the same photosensitive chemicals found on black-and-white enlargement paper—expose imagery using an enlarger, and process with standard developer and fixer. Discover the range of tones, highlights, textures, and colors that can be revealed with this alternative photographic technique. Some basic photography experience is ideal, but all levels are welcome.
Tuition: $60 + Materials Fee: $40 = $100 total*

Class sizes are limited. Advance registration is required. Please include payment with your registration form. Fees are non-refundable following the first class meeting.
